Your Top Line Menu

An exercise you might find useful is to think through your practice through a website top menu metaphor. This is something that can then become literal if you wish.

An exercise you might find useful is to think through your practice through a website top menu metaphor. This is something that can then become literal if you wish.

In the top menu on a website, you will often see an ABOUT tab and perhaps a CONTACT tab. We often think we might provide other tab items such as BOOKS or RESOURCES but what are the other primary menu tabs?

Should you offer a top-level navigation based on the MESSAGES you touch on? So something like this...

ABOUT
LEADERSHIP
CULTURE
PERFORMANCE
BOOKS
BLOG
CONTACT

or should you offer a set of options based on METHODS of delivery,

ABOUT
SPEAKING
TRAINING
MENTORING
BOOKS
BLOG
CONTACT

or should it be OUTCOME-based?

ABOUT
BE INSPIRED
GAIN KNOWLEDGE
SEEK TRUTH
BOOKS
BLOG
CONTACT

It could be EXPERIENCE-based.

ABOUT
CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
ONLINE MASTERCLASSES
LEADERSHIP RETREATS
BOOKS
BLOG
CONTACT

It could be seen through a SKILLS lens.

ABOUT
THINKING
LEADING
SPEAKING
BOOKS
BLOG
CONTACT

This list of LENSES is not in any way exhaustive but might be the catalyst for understanding who you are and what you offer. Try different menus and explore and see what pops for you! This doesn't have to translate to your actual website, but I suspect it just might.
