The Power of Decisions

You could easily think that a commercially successful thought leader's practice is about the quality of your ideas, and it is.

Listen to the blog here.

You could think it's about the dynamic nature of the experiences you create for clients, and it is. For sure, the ideas you share and the way you share them are essential.

AND...

It's equally vital that you get good at making decisions. Like being comfortable saying NO to the expectations others have of you, it just takes a little practice. 'No!' is a complete sentence. Like saying NO, deciding takes practice.

Some considerations for you as you embrace your 'decisions'.

Decisions feel existential, but they rarely are. You can pretty much reverse any decision you make by making another.
Decisions don't need to be right. The only mistake you can make is not deciding to do something.
Decisions bridge the gap between being inspired to do something and actually doing something.
Suicide, Homicide, Regicide and Decide are all from the same etymology. The word 'decision' literally means the killing off of choice.

These four considerations explain why we don't like making decisions and perhaps don't like getting them wrong. But ultimately, to run a solo expertise-centred advice practice, you need to get good at making decisions.

Decide is our core curriculum focus for people starting out and moving up the Thought Leader's Revenue ladder.

Here are some DECISION-based self-coaching questions that might help:

Have I decided that I do know something that other people would value? What is the shape of that knowledge?
Have I decided to run a practice as a thought leader? If so, when?
Do I have a book in me? Am I going to write it? If so, when?

Maybe the best decision you can make is to join our Business School and be supported as an expert who becomes commercially successful.
