Reviewing & Reflection

It has been a big year - a year for me loaded with lessons and opportunities to do things differently.

So 2021 is nearly over! Many of you will be relieved!

It has been a big year - a year for me loaded with lessons and opportunities to do things differently. The restrictions have forced me to think differently and to be more creative. I have created solutions that I would never have considered in more ‘normal’ times. I have grown and stretched and developed even more than I did in 2020 - and I thought that was a big year!

“Review and reflect” is one of my favourite tools to use in December. Reviewing the past 12 months and the reflections on lessons learnt is essential when you run a busy practice.

Here is how I do it. Scan your calendar to review your year. Consider these eight questions:

  1. What are you most proud of in 2021?
Maybe it’s that you kept going, that you didn’t quit. Maybe it’s a newfound strength or clarity that you discovered? Perhaps you have changed or developed new conviction around what is important for you.

  2. What was your best delivery?
What did you love about it? Where were you? Who were you with? What was so wonderful about it? How can you create more of that?!

  3. What was your biggest sale?
Who was it with? How did it come about? Where can you get more like that?

  4. Who was your best client?
What did you enjoy about this work? What made them amazing to work with? - Find more of this!

  5. Who challenged you?
Who made you better - pushed you, extended you, or disrupted your world? Be grateful to those who make you better, who help you to break through old thinking or change your ways.

  6. Who inspired you?
Who has taught you something? Who have you noticed that makes you want to be better, to think differently, or someone who simply made you smile often?

  7. What, if you had it, would have made 2021 better?
The answer to this needs to be a priority in 2022. Is it more sales? More space? More confidence?

  8. Who added the most value to your world?
Who supported you? Who has helped? Showing gratitude and recognising the people who add value in your world is an excellent way of getting more value in your world.

Reviewing is not enough - I am interested in what you are going to do about what you have discovered. Reflect and then based on what you have realised, what will you do differently in 2022?

Maybe you are ready to make some changes? Maybe you are looking for some support, some accountability, and to add some clever and inspiring people to your world. Here is a session I ran recently to discuss the benefits of our Foundation Program.

We have a special Christmas offer at the moment - $1000 for the entire 6 months of learning.

Close the year with a meeting with yourself. Pat yourself on the back and then lie down somewhere with a good book!

Merry Christmas to you all!
