Fully Self-expressed

Written by Matt Church - Founder | 17 October 2022

We have so many different SELF labels in the world; the idea of being self-expressed needs some unpacking.

No time to read the blog? You can listen to it here.

We teach in the Thought Leaders Curriculum that commercial success in your practice occurs when three things are in beautiful harmony: The first is that you are fully self-expressed, and the second is that you do so in service to others. The third is that you are then rewarded for your contribution.

If you are self-expressed, but it's all about you and not in service to others, you become a narcissist, which rarely sells well.

If you are in service to others but at the expense of you, you become a pushover and end up doing too much pro-bono and friendoring.

Get these two things right and do so within the framework of a commercially focused thought leadership practice and you will be rewarded for the contribution you make; to the order of $500,000 to $1,500,000, delivering insights 50-200 days a year with one or maybe two staff.

Self-expressed might mean, turning up in the world as you, doing the work you were born to do, and making a difference to the human condition somehow.

We have so many different SELF labels in the world; the idea of being self-expressed needs some unpacking.

We could be talking about self-confidence. How much belief we have in our ability to do something.

We could be talking about self-compassion. How much warmth we have for ourselves.

We could be talking about self-esteem. How much we approve of ourselves.

We could be talking about a self-transforming mind, the mind that grows and shapes itself.

We could be talking about self-authoring. How much agency do we have in our life?

We could even be talking about self-sabotage. How we block/resist peace in our life.

For me, it means that at some level you go through a fundamental shift in identity and experience the world through a wider, truer awareness of the world, the people in it, and your interbeing with all that is.

You turn up with a greater sense of the 'isness' and 'asness' of life.
